The West Texas Western Swing Festival is held every year during the second week of June at the Scurry County Coliseum. The biggest names in western swing music perform for four days and nights.

The Texas State Festival of Ethnic Cultures and Arts & Crafts Show in Ballinger takes place in April on the historic grounds of the Runnels County Court House. A parade, talent show, food booths and crafts are all part of the event, which includes the coronation of Miss Ballinger.

The Primetime Family Entertainment Center in Abilene is a 42,000-square-foot complex that includes a 16-lane bowling center, batting cages, laser tag, bumper cars, billiards, more than 70 arcade games, a 36-hole miniature golf course and the X-D theater, which features eight full-Surround Sound™ seats combined with a large 3-D video display.

For the last two years, Lake Nasworthy in San Angelo has seen top powerboat drag racing. The Showdown in San Angelo, billed as the “fastest show on water,” pits speedboats in side-by-side competition for a quarter-mile race at speeds of up to 250 miles per hour, a distance covered in less than 5 seconds.
