Ghost Hunters Like Jones County Haunt

Ghost hunters often visit Anson in Jones County in search of the “Lights of Anson.”
This phenomenon appears periodically at Mount Hope Cemetery and has been featured in the book Ghosts in the Graveyard by Olyve Hallmark Abbot.
According to locals, one winter night during the Depression, a young mother ran along the road searching for her missing child. She never found her child, who had wandered away from the house and was presumed to have frozen to death.
Legend has it that the mother’s spirit still searches for her child, holding a lantern high to light her way in the dark night. Meanwhile, skeptics say the lights are nothing more than occasional headlights of cars that travel along a nearby
desolate road.
