Some people use mesquite for cooking, but Terry Lankford uses the wood to create unique furniture, lamps and fireplace mantels.

Mesquite & Cedar Products is located in Abilene, and one of Lankford’s latest creations is a king-size bed made from a rare mesquite burl log. Texas mesquite was once a reliable source of food and shelter for American Indians, and is known for its rich auburn color, highly figured grain and character patterns.
