Once a Chicken Farm, It’s Now A Chicken Art Center

It was once an old chicken farm, and now it is an art center.

The Old Chicken Farm Art Center in San Angelo was founded in 1971 as a place for artists to live and work. Today, it is home to two art galleries, 22 studios, a large pottery shop and foundry, and has grown into a tourist attraction.

The three main events at the complex each year are a ceramic workshop in April, a blacksmith get-together in May and a three-day open house at Thanksgiving. The center is also home to a bed-and-breakfast as well as the Silo House Restaurant, which specializes in French and Southwest cuisine.
